Hello all,
On behalf of Hawke's Bay Chess, may I thank all those who participated in the 2018 Hawke's Bay Rapid. Your enthusiasm and commitment were greatly appreciated. It is our intention to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants. Hopefully, we were successful in this endeavour.
Congratulations should be extended to Ben Hague, Aaron Wang, Oscar Qin and Finley Dunacn; respective winners of the 'A', 'B' (tied first) and ‘Junior’ grades. Moreover, Chris Smith and Magnus Macfarlane were jointly awarded the title of ‘Best Hawke's Bay Player(s)”.
Once again, I wish to thank Murray Chandler and Gambit Publications for donating book prizes. Additionally, the Napier law firm Sainsbury, Logan and Williams kindly subsidised the event. Our greatest appreciation, however, is reserved for Bruce Pollard. His agreement to fulfill the role of arbiter at short notice, combined with his tireless efforts at the tournament, proved invaluable.
We would welcome all constructive criticism regarding the management and execution of the tournament. Suggestions and feedback should permit us to improve the Hawke's Bay Rapid in future years.
Finally, thank you all for ensuring that today was enjoyable and memorable. It was truly our great pleasure to host you.
